Accident On Sunrise Highway In Southampton Snarls Traffic Wednesday Morning

According to State Police a minor two-car accident that occurred on Sunrise Highway eastbound before the merge by the Lobster Inn caused a major traffic snarl early Wednesday morning in Southampton.

The accident has since been cleared. There were no injuries.

Bet it was texting or Pokemon Go related. I take the road everyday and I swear at least half the people are texting or on their phone. Drive!

i agree! if you're driving around just observe how many people are driving around texting or with their phone in-hand, weather its in the village or on sunrise highway

That is where the speed restriction on County Road 39 ends and Hwy 27 begins - and people are going nuts to accelerate to 65 miles per hour. Plus there are weird hwy access and egress points right there - at the restaurant etc....
