A Hampton Bays man was seriously injured after diving into the water near Towd Point in North Sea last week, according to police.

Southampton Town Police Lieutenant Susan Ralph said that a medevac helicopter was called in to transport Matthew Raynor, 28, who suffered undisclosed injuries, to an area hospital. The call came in at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, according to police.

On Tuesday, Lt. Ralph declined to offer any further information on Mr. Raynor's condition.

Southampton Volunteer Ambulance first responders, as well as members of the North Sea Fire Department, and two Southampton Town Bay Constables had assisted at the scene.
