Frederick Bruns Of Southampton Dies September 8

Frederick N. Bruns of Southampton died on September 8, 2019. He was 71.

Born on March 17, 1948, to Harold Frederick Bruns and Nellie White Bennett, he was the fourth generation of his family to live in the family home on Hampton Road in Southampton Village where, in 1969, he opened an antiques shop. His many accomplishments included volunteering for the Yellow Barn Bookshop at Riverhead Library, the Welcome Home Thrift Shop and the NYC Gay Men’s Health Crisis during the height of the AIDS epidemic.

Mr. Bruns is survived by cousins, Sandy and David Watson, Richard and Paula Spencer, Barbara Peterson and Alicia J. Ryder. He was predeceased by his cousins, David Peterson and Ronald Peterson.

Visitation was at the O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton, with a private memorial service concluding with his ashes being spread among ancestral graves at Flying Point Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton or Southampton Hospital.
