Traffic delays and road closures will take place in Southampton Village on Saturday, September 28, for the Hamptons Marathon that will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m, according to the Southampton Village Police Department.

Leland Lane, where Southampton Intermediate School is located, will be closed to vehicular traffic for the entire event. Village Police advise motorists to avoid Leland Lane, if possible, and “proceed with extreme caution” through all other village streets.

The event consists of a 5K, a half marathon and a full marathon that begins and ends at the intermediate school. The first stretch brings runners south, down Leland Lane and Old Town Road, then on a tree-lined route through Wickapogue Road, Downs Path and Flying Point Road before looping back to Old Town Road.

Marathon participants will run through much of the village’s neighborhoods as well as the length of Meadow Lane and back.
