Southampton Village Police: Homeless Man Arrested For Burglary And Trespass

Oct 9, 2019 11:17 AM

Southampton Village Police arrested 21-year-old Makhail Fraiser on Saturday, October 5, on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges as part of an ongoing investigation into a string of burglaries.

Mr. Fraiser, who is currently homeless but previously lived in Braddock, Pennsylvania, was charged with third-degree and second-degree burglary, both felonies, and second-degree criminal trespass, three counts of possession of burglars’ tools and two counts of petit larceny, all misdemeanors.

On September 13, Mr. Fraiser entered Plaza Cafe through a window and stole several bottles of wine, and on September 29, he entered a property on Halsey Neck Lane, according to police.

Then on October 3 and 4, he entered a residence on First Neck Lane where he stole wine and attempted to steal a cable box, according to police.

In two of the three cases that Mr. Fraiser was charged, the homeowners’ surveillance footage aided Southampton Village detectives in the investigation, police said.

Mr. Fraiser was arraigned Saturday and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Riverside in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

Village detectives said they are continuing to investigate Mr. Fraiser’s activities over the last six weeks and are urging residents “to be more vigilant of their areas and to make sure homes and cars are secured properly.”

Police ask that anyone who experienced similar incidents call 631-283-0056.
